We’ve had a few enquiries regarding Tropical Cyclone Alfred which will potentially make landfall near Brisbane on Thursday (6/3/25).
Therefore, we thought it may be useful to publish a few notes in preparation:
- Data Backups
- If your backups are not managed by DT, ensure you have a full backup of important data and take it offsite at COB the day before.
- If your backup is managed by DT, we will be running some manual backups at around COB in case there’s a loss of Internet (or power) later in the afternoon/evening.
- Power Protection
- If you do not have suitable UPS (battery backup) power, you may want to shutdown any sensitive equipment when you leave on Wednesday. Please remember you will not be able to connect any office systems until someone physically turns them back on.
- Personal Devices
- Fully charge your laptops, phones and any portable battery packs you have.
- Safety First
- If the Cyclone starts to impact your Office or Home, your safety should be everyone’s priority.
- External Resources
- Chubb have some useful tips for those in areas that may be significantly impacted: https://www.chubb.com/au-en/articles/personal/10-steps-to-prepare-for-a-cyclone.html. In particular, remember to secure the exterior of your Office and Home as there may be high winds blowing loose objects around.
- DT Operations
- As a precaution, DT Staff will be working from home on Thursday so that we can continue to provide our services with minimal disruption. All of our key infrastructure is in the Cloud (or Data Centre) and is unlikely to be impacted unless there are extremely widespread power and Internet interruptions.
- Contact Us
- If you have any concerns or would like to discuss your plans, please do not hesitate to contact us as early as possible.
Stay safe,
Simon
